LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Dozens of veterans gathered Tuesday morning for the 12th annual cover photo shoot for Senior Link Magazine, a local quarterly publication that spotlights people making a difference in West Texas.
The group included veterans ranging from those in their 20s to one man who recently turned 100.
A local quilt group honored 32 veterans at the event with handmade quilts of valor — presented as a personal thank-you for their service.
Erin Agee, owner and publisher of Senior Link Magazine, said the annual gathering serves a purpose beyond the photo shoot.
“It is an amazing opportunity. We bring these veterans together once a year to take the cover photo… and if we’re going to bring them together, we need to take the extra time to just once again thank them for their service and their sacrifice for our country,” Agee said.
Agee said the event brings World War II veterans together with younger service members, all sharing stories and a common mission of protecting American freedoms.
The fall veterans issue of Senior Link Magazine, featuring Tuesday morning’s cover photo, is set to hit stands around Sept. 1.
