DALLAS (KDAF) — New research by analysts at Winder Law Firm indicates Texas ranks seventh among US states for social media engagement, based on average monthly Google searches related to social media platforms. The study found Texas’s search interest is 12% higher than the national average. The findings suggest a significant online presence for Texans, with millions of monthly searches for social media terms.
The personal injury firm’s analysts conducted an extensive review of average monthly Google searches within each state for terms such as ‘Facebook login’ and ‘TikTok desktop.’ To enable a fair comparison, they then standardized the data by comparing each state’s total searches to its population, determining the average number of monthly Google searches per 100,000 residents. The national average stands at 135,356 monthly Google searches per 100,000 residents for social media-related terms.
Texas recorded 151,961 average monthly Google searches per 100,000 residents for terms related to social media platforms. This figure surpasses the national average by 12%. In total, there are an average of 46,353,266 monthly searches for these terms within the state. The top five most searched social media platforms in Texas are YouTube, Facebook, X, Instagram and Reddit.

Nationwide, N.Y. leads in social media platform search interest, with 157,537 average monthly searches per 100,000 residents. Virginia followed, registering 156,340 average monthly searches and Washington ranked third with 153,725 average monthly searches per 100,000 residents.
Conversely, W.Virginia had the lowest average monthly Google searches per 100,000 people, totaling 106,076. Mississippi followed with 108,152 average monthly Google searches and Alaska registered 111,291 average monthly Google searches per 100,000 people.
Across all states, the platforms with the highest search interest are YouTube, Facebook, X, Instagram and Reddit.
