LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Dangerously hot conditions will continue to grip the South Plains through the weekend, with high temperatures potentially reaching 106° today, particularly for areas off the Caprock.

A Heat Advisory is in effect again today from 1 p.m. until 9 p.m. this evening for areas off to the east. This pattern will persist through the remainder of the week, with area-wide Heat Advisories likely by late this week into the weekend.

A tall dome of high pressure will continue to push even warmer temperatures into the area through Wednesday through next Tuesday.

The forecast shows virtually no relief from the heat, with prospects for rain remaining extremely low. While some isolated showers are possible Friday night, measurable precipitation is unlikely given the deep subsidence and extremely dry conditions in the atmosphere.
