How donations are used
One hundred percent of donations collected through the event will be converted into store credit at Izzy Money Vintage, a Lubbock-based resale shop and the event’s first named community partner. That credit will be placed directly into the hands of local foster youth, who will visit the store the following Monday to shop for their own school clothes.
Vendor fees paid for booth space also serve as the direct donation — vendors keep 100% of their own sales on the day of the event.
Guardian Angels said the model is designed to give foster kids the experience of choosing their own clothing, in their own size and style, rather than receiving pre-selected hand-me-downs.
Birthday boxes and future events
Guardian Angels said it is also collecting donations to build birthday boxes for foster children. A local baker has agreed to provide cakes, and another community member has offered cupcakes. Donations toward the birthday box program go to products, party favors, and gifts.
The organization said Threads of Hope is planned as a monthly recurring event. A school supply drive is planned as the next event, and Guardian Angels said it is seeking a community business partner willing to convert donations into store credit for foster youth to shop for school supplies.
