It’s every parent’s dream, yet nearly impossible to find: time to get things done. That’s where a new San Antonio coffee shop comes in.
CoPlay Cove is a café, licensed child care center, and coworking space all rolled into one. Located on the city’s Northside, not far from Hollywood Park, it was designed for busy people seeking support as they balance work, family, and personal needs. Its offerings include, yes, a hot vanilla latte but also a jungle-themed playground, sensory-friendly toys, and nearly a dozen private offices for rent.

“I kept finding myself having to choose between being productive professionally and being present as a parent,” co-founder Deepika Mittal told MySA. “If child care fell through, if I needed to attend a meeting, if I simply needed a few uninterrupted hours to think, there wasn’t a place designed for that reality. Coffee shops weren’t built for children. Traditional coworking spaces weren’t built for families. Child care centers weren’t built for parents who wanted to stay close by.”
As Mittal spoke with other parents, she realized many families faced similar challenges. But the real idea spark came in mid-January 2024, when she came across an Instagram reel about a similar concept.
The following month, she and her husband, Akasha Mittal, were walking along the beach in Destin, Florida, when the idea came up again as they discussed their future.

“That’s when the idea shifted from inspiration to purpose,” Deepika explained. “We looked at each other and said, ‘This is what we’re meant to build.’ By April 2024, I had made the decision to go all in.”
There are many tasks that stay-at-home parents don’t get enough credit for. There are hundreds of moments — beyond preparing meals or school pickups — spent tending to little ones, and guardians often put their needs, wants, and passions on the back burner. CoPlay Cove serves as an ecosystem where several of those desires can be met.

Parents seeking child care can purchase a day pass, pay hourly (only on weekends), or enroll in a monthly membership. The center occupies a large space separated from the coffee shop and includes an infant exploration area, toddler discovery zone, preschool innovation station, and grade-school reading nook.
“Affordability was something we thought about from day one because I understand firsthand how expensive child care can be. At the same time, I also believe families deserve exceptional care, highly qualified educators, beautiful environments, and a business that can sustainably invest in its people,” Deepika said. “Parents shouldn’t have to wonder if their child is OK while they’re trying to focus. Knowing your child is safe, engaged, and just steps away changes everything.”
CoPlay Cove was founded by Deepika and Akasha Mittal.

Parents can pack a meal for their child to eat at lunchtime or join a group order from Hearthstone Bakery Cafe, a CoPlay Cove collaborator. Orders are delivered at no extra fee; families only pay for the products they order.

While kiddos enjoy supervised play and learning time, adults can grab a hot drink or snack and get some taks on their to-do lists done at one of 29 workstations in The Meadow, each equipped with a monitor, keyboard, and mouse. The facility also has 11 private, lockable offices and three compact rooms for virtual calls.
“Every service was designed to eliminate one more decision, one more errand, or one more compromise, so parents can focus on what matters most, both professionally and personally,” Deepika said.
Further down the hall, The Cove and The Nook offer larger gathering spaces with a television, tables, and chairs. The rooms are available at $25/hour and may especially pique the interests of entrepreneurs seeking a professional presence without the expense of a brick-and-mortar.
“As Military City USA, so many families here are raising children without grandparents, siblings, or lifelong friends nearby,” Deepika said. “As a military family ourselves, we understand that reality deeply … At the end of the day, I hope every family who walks through our doors feels like they’ve found something we all need a little more of: their village.”
