Another day in college athletics, another eligibility-related lawsuit.
Former Texas offensive lineman Cole Hutson has reportedly been granted a temporary restraining order against the NCAA in his age-based eligibility lawsuit, according to a report from On Texas Football and On3. Hutson requested a judge grant him a fifth year of eligibility to suit up this fall.
Hutson appeared in 48 games and made 23 starts with Texas from 2022-25. He went undrafted this year and was invited to the Cowboys’ rookie minicamp, but after going through the NFL draft process he is seeking a return to college football.
On3’s Pete Nakos reported Hutson does not yet have a school to play for this fall but a return to Texas is not off the table.
“Cole’s a guy with a lot of experience, played a lot of football for us. He’s a guy that unfortunately didn’t get drafted, so he puts himself in a bit of a different situation than maybe most guys that got done playing their fourth year in college. We’ll see what that looks like and sees where it goes.”
