Houston-area residents may be visiting local drive-thru restaurants Friday to celebrate National Drive-Thru Day.
Texas is home to many drive-thru restaurants, and fast-food chains continue to expand across the region.
Here are some Greater Houston restaurants planning to open new locations, based on previous reporting and Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation records.
HumblePopeyes

Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen plans to open a new restaurant in Humble’s Woodland Hills area, according to recent TDLR records.
The location at 15705 Woodland Hills Drive will be more than 2,000 square feet. Construction is expected to begin Oct. 1, 2026, and be completed by April 1, 2027.
Dave’s Hot Chicken

Dave’s Hot Chicken also plans to open in Humble. The Las Vegas-based chain, backed by rapper Drake, is continuing its Texas expansion.
The restaurant will be at 15936 Woodland Hills Drive. Construction is expected to begin July 31, 2026, and be completed by Oct. 31, 2026, according to TDLR records.
KatyTaco Bell

Taco Bell plans to open a new location in the growing Katy Park area. The restaurant will be at 3087 Katy Hockley Cut Off Road.
TDLR records show the $1.5 million project is expected to begin Aug. 31, 2026, and be completed by Dec. 15, 2026.
SpringCulver’s

Culver’s is continuing its Texas expansion with a new location in Spring at 18603 Kuykendahl Road.
The Wisconsin-based chain is known for its ButterBurgers and frozen custard. Construction is expected to begin in September 2026 and be completed in September 2027.
Manvel Manvel Town Center

Manvel Town Center’s new 273-acre commercial district will include not only a Lowe’s and a 108,000-square-foot H-E-B, but also several proposed restaurants.
Illinois-based Portillo’s, In-N-Out and Chick-fil-A are among the restaurants planned for the district, according to previous reporting.
If In-N-Out opens in the development near Texas 288 and Texas 6, it would be the chain’s sixth Houston-area location.
