Mayor Jeff Bickerstaff, joined by members of Sachse City Council and city staff, cuts the ribbon Saturday, Nov. 1, to officially celebrate completion of J.K. Sachse Park.

Residents braved gray skies and cool mid-50s temperatures Saturday, Nov. 1, as the City of Sachse hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate completion of J.K. Sachse Park, the first park located on the city’s Collin County side.

Free coffee, donuts and an interactive scavenger hunt greeted families who gathered to explore the park’s newest feature — a colorful playground — marking the final phase of a project that began several years ago. Participants followed QR-code clues around the park and received national-park-inspired prints of the new site. One framed copy was signed by guests to commemorate the occasion.

Leisure Services Director Lance Whitworth opened the ceremony, calling the day an “official grand opening” for the completed park.
