19th Annual Plaza Classic Film Festival

The world’s largest classic film fest ends this weekend, with more beloved films having their showings from Friday, July 24 through Sunday, July 26 at the Plaza Theatre. Don’t miss out on some of these classics.

Moths! The Night Shift Crew

Learn about these winged, often overlooked creatures at the Franklin Mountains State Park. The event kicks off at 7:45 p.m. on Friday, July 24. Guests will meet at the park’s entrance gate and tickets are $5 per adult. Children 12 and younger enter free. Participants will do a short talk about moths and observe some up close, take pictures and identify some.

The Manhattan Heights History & Mystery Ghost Walk

Stroll through one of El Paso’s oldest and most historic neighborhoods with this History and Mystery Ghost Walk! The event will be from 9 to 11 p.m. on Friday, July 24, starting at the intersection of Copper Avenue and North San Marcial Street. Listen to tales of late El Paso residents, learn about the architecture and walk with local ghosts and spirits. Tickets are $25 and space is limited.

The Comedy Film Challenge – Filmmaker Kickoff Event

Filmmakers, take up this 48-hour challenge with Chuco Town Comedy! Assemble your filmmaking team and take part in the Comedy Film Challenge, where teams will only be given 48 hours to create an original short comedy mash-up film. Each team will be given a random genre, character, prop and a line of dialogue at the kickoff event, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Friday, July 24 at Cinco Dive & Patio. Here’s the twist, no matter the genre, teams must create a comedy.

Paint with Ash: Gel Plate Printing Workshop

Looking for a new hobby? Get tactile and creative with this workshop! This beginner-friendly event will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, July 24, at the El Paso Art Association, located at 500 West Paisano. Artist and instructor Ashton Kaleigh will guide you on how to use a gel plate and how to pull your first print! Tickets are $40 but include all the materials needed.

Adult 4v4 Sand Volleyball Tournament

Bring your squad and play to try to win the City of Las Cruces Parks & Recreation Department’s Adult 4v4 Sand Volleyball Tournament! Registration is open and tournament play begins at 6 p.m. on Friday, July 24 at the Meerscheidt Recreation Center.

Guests can expect dozens of vendors, live entertainment, exhibitions, two fashion shows, giveaways and a high school mascot challenge.

Eslabon Armado, the first Mexican act to reach No. 1 on Billboard’s Global 200, is continuing its Amor Nocturno tour with a stop in the Sun City. The show begins at 8 p.m. on Saturday, July 25 at the Abraham Chavez Theatre. Fans can expect songs such as “Con Tus Besos”, “Dame Tu Calor”, and global hit “Ella Baila Sola”.
Sapphic Shakespeare: Bard’s Words. Her mouth

The Star of the Mountain Theatrical Productions invites you to sit and listen to an afternoon of William Shakespeare’s work performed by femme and femme-presenting artists. The performances will begin at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 25 and 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 26 at the Hilton Garden Inn. Sip, Paint and Moonwalk
