Foxconn, formally known as Hon Hai Technology Group, is planning a $71.9 million expansion at 8718 Fairbanks North Houston Rd. in Houston, according to a recent filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. While details submitted to the TDLR are subject to change, the project spans 74,312 square feet, with construction expected to run from September through January 2027.

The expansion includes remodeling the interior of an existing shell building to create office, production and break room space. Foxconn did not immediately respond to Chron’s request for comment on whether the facility will manufacture products for Apple.

In December, Q-Edge sought federal authorization to manufacture electronics including servers, computers and motherboards at its Houston facility, according to a notice with the Foreign-Trade Zones Board. However, the notice does not specifically connect those products to the expansion at 8718 Fairbanks North Houston Road or identify Apple as a customer.
