Another Texas Roadhouse is headed to the greater Houston area. But its location—up the road on land previously owned by the locally owned steakhouse—had members of the Montgomery community fired up on social media.
This isn’t You’ve Got Mail (steakhouse version), though. Ransom’s Steakhouse & Saloon, the mom and pop restaurant that also developed a nearby master planned community, has already quashed the beef.
“This is old news for us,” Ransom’s said in a Facebook statement. “In fact, as the owners of Ransom’s AND the developers of Buffalo Springs, we sold the land knowing Texas Roadhouse was highly likely several years ago.”
They added that they could have prohibited such a possibility but instead opted to let the community take shape, also acknowledging that the tax revenue from a business like Texas Roadhouse provides “amazing opportunities” for a city Montgomery’s size.
A representative from Texas Roadhouse could not immediately be reached for comment Monday.
According to TDLR, the $1.5 million project will start in May 2027, with construction completed by October 2027.
When it opens, Ransom’s owners expect there will be people who choose to only visit Texas Roadhouse. But they also expect others will only go to Ransom’s, while still others may go to both.
“The number of people that a chain restaurant, such as Texas Roadhouse, attracts will likely help all businesses in the area,” the statement said.
“Within the next two years, 1000’s of single family homes are coming to Montgomery,” the statement continued. “We can’t stop it but we can all work together to keep our community what makes it great.”
