El Paso, Texas (KFOX14) — Chronic workplace stress and burnout can affect more than an employee’s well-being. They can also weaken productivity, performance and employee retention, according to Margaret Njuguna, founder of Thrive Workforce Wellness & Consulting.

Njuguna is a registered nurse with nearly 30 years of health care experience. She said years of watching motivated professionals gradually become exhausted — along with her own experience with chronic work stress — convinced her that employees and organizations need more accessible wellness support. Her nursing background and involvement in the El Paso community are also documented in a published author biography.

Many employees recognize that they need help, Njuguna said, but do not know where to begin. Others may not have time to participate in the wellness programs available through their employers.

That gap inspired her to establish Thrive Workforce Wellness & Consulting, an El Paso business serving both individuals and workplaces. The company is listed as an active member of the El Paso Chamber.

Thrive’s approach centers on structured wellness guidance, goal-setting and practical support. Njuguna said the goal is to help people move from “survival mode” toward greater stability, purpose and well-being.

She also emphasized that workplace wellness should not be treated solely as an employee’s personal responsibility. When stress and burnout remain unaddressed, employers can experience lower productivity, declining performance and the loss of experienced team members.

Njuguna’s broader message to the Borderland is rooted in hope.

“Yes, you are stuck today, but there is hope for tomorrow,” she said.

For Njuguna, thriving means more than simply making it through the workday. It means reconnecting with a sense of purpose and finding the motivation to move forward.
