El Paso, Texas (KFOX14) — Times of Refreshing International Ministries, commonly known as TORIM Church, is working to create a welcoming faith community where Borderland residents can find worship, prayer and support.
Senior pastor and founder James Njuguna Mutero said the El Paso church’s mission extends beyond its own congregation. TORIM seeks to help people grow as followers of Christ and carry a spirit of service into their homes, families and neighborhoods.
“Everything we do is not just for our church, but it’s for the community,” Mutero said.
TORIM opened in 2012 after Mutero and his family relocated from Africa. The church’s official biography identifies Mutero as a native of Kenya and says his family moved to the United States in 2006 with a vision to minister to people from different cultures and backgrounds.
Mutero said the church’s priorities include reaching people facing hardship, helping members grow as disciples and preparing them to serve others. The ministry summarizes that mission with the motto, “Enriching Lives with God’s Presence.”
Families and children are central to the church’s approach. Mutero described the congregation as “a big family” where children and adults are encouraged to participate, learn and grow.
The invitation is not limited to longtime churchgoers. Mutero said friends, neighbors and people who are still exploring their faith are welcome to attend.
TORIM also connects faith with practical well-being. During the Daytime segment, Mutero invited people seeking prayer, health resources or a supportive community to connect with the church. TORIM’s outreach history includes community health education, and the church’s website highlights the work of its health ministry team.
The broader goal, Mutero said, is to help people grow spiritually, find purpose and make a positive difference in their families and communities.
TORIM’s official website lists Sunday worship from 10 a.m. to noon at 6501 Boeing Drive, Suite I, in El Paso. The Sunday service is also available through Facebook Live. The church lists a Wednesday Zoom meeting from 7 to 9 p.m., while Mutero said Friday prayer meetings begin at 7 p.m. Meeting information should be confirmed through the church before attending.
