Leading up to Thursday afternoon’s media scrum, members of other teams couldn’t help but talk about the Longhorns, especially Florida. Gators running back Jadan Baugh explained why he didn’t follow his former coach, Jabbar Juluke, to Austin. Florida’s new head coach Jon Sumrall explained his relationship with Arch Manning and how he joked with Manning’s grandfather, Archie, about transferring to Tulane.

The Longhorns reeled in an impressive transfer class, but it didn’t come cheap.
“To make the moves we make, to bring in a Cam Coleman, to bring in a Hollywood Smothers, to bring in a Raleek Brown, to bring in a Mike Masunas at tight end; we had to let DeAndre Moore go. We had to let Parker Livingstone go. We had to let Tre Wisner go. We had to let CJ Baxter go.”
Quarterback Arch Manning lost his roommate Parker Livingstone to the transfer portal and he signed with Texas’ rival Oklahoma. As a freshman, Livingstone had 516 receiving yards and six touchdowns. He also threw a touchdown pass to Manning in the Longhorns’ win over Arkansas. Since the Longhorns and Sooners will meet again in the Red River Rivalry at the Cotton Bowl in October, Steve Sarkisian said “I hope we kick is (explative.”
Texas lost to Ohio State in last year’s matchup but will get a chance at revenge. Head coach Steve Sarkisian was asked about the huge nonconference game. “We’ve had moments in both those games where we could have seized opportunities that could have changed the complexion of the game, but we didn’t do it. And to come out on top this year, we’re going to have to seize those moments when they present themselves.”
