On Thursday, CSE Talent, the agency representing Wiley, announced that she joined the Houston NBC affiliate as an investigative reporter. 

The move comes just weeks after Wiley said goodbye to KXAN News in Austin, where she spent five years uncovering government accountability issues and earning multiple Lone Star Emmy Awards and nominations.

“I am saying goodbye to my [KXAN News] crew after five amazing years working alongside the best colleagues and friends,” Wiley wrote in a July social media post announcing her departure. She said she learned “so much” from the Austin community, made lifelong friends and, most importantly, was able to report on stories “that matter.”

While she was leaving Austin, Wiley noted she wasn’t going far.

“I am excited to join [KPRC 2] in Houston later this month as an investigative reporter!” she wrote.

Wiley joined KXAN in July 2021 after spending two years as an investigative reporter in Jacksonville, Fla. There, an investigation into a local Catholic diocese’s decision to hire a priest previously accused in a Pennsylvania grand jury report of failing to report sexual abuse earned her an Emmy Award.

Before that, Wiley worked for four years in Augusta, Ga., as an investigative reporter and anchor.

Her reporting uncovered a school district that hired bus drivers with poor driving records despite its own policies, examined inaccessible polling places in Georgia’s second-largest city and led the series Invisible Barriers, which highlighted deteriorating and missing sidewalks that made navigating downtown difficult for people with disabilities. That work earned her two Georgia Associated Press Awards for specialized reporting and series reporting.

Originally from Columbia, S.C., Wiley is the daughter and sister of educators. She earned a bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism with a minor in political science from the University of South Carolina.

Wiley joins KPRC 2 after Arnold, the station’s longtime investigative reporter, retired in June after 26 years at the station and 31 years as a journalist. 

Her arrival marks another major staffing move during a year of significant change at KPRC 2.
