Governor Greg Abbott announced that a third person has died from the severe flooding in the Hill Country and South Texas last week.

The Governor was speaking at a news conference in La Salle County, and said that the death was reported from Val Verde County.

Abbott was outside of San Antonio, for a flyover to assess the damage of floodwaters he said have left some areas of the city still unreachable.

“Now there are officially three people who have lost their lives because of the July floods,” Gov. Abbott said.

The Central Texas area was pounded by rain for several days last week, with Abbott issuing disaster declarations for 59 counties, while requesting federal disaster help for 33 counties.
