Investigators with the Crimes Against Persons Unit alleged that a witness told them that Hall and Lopez were roommates who had been living together for about two years.

Documents reported that the pair were in their apartment when Hall was intoxicated and became involved in a physical altercation with Lopez for unknown reasons.

During the argument, Lopez armed himself with a knife, left the apartment, and walked to a neighbor’s apartment. He asked the neighbor at the front door, asking to be let inside, warning that Hall was “extremely” intoxicated.

While Lopez and the neighbor talked, Hall approached Lopez. Hall repeatedly asked Lopez if they were “good,” to which Lopez did not respond.

The arrest affidavit for Hall stated that the neighbor witnessed Hall wearing a white shirt with what appeared to be suspected blood on the right side of his chest area and a laceration on his left palm.

The affidavit reported that Hall produced a handgun and fired one round, striking Lopez in the chest.

Hall fled the scene and was later found by police and placed under arrest for murder.
