JACKSON COUNTY, Texas — Two Houston men have been arrested in connection with the May death of a Houston man whose body was found in the Navidad River, according to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.
Investigators arrested Eric Hernandez, 20, and Maynor Jasiel George-George, 19, on July 18 after a two-month homicide investigation.
The investigation began May 2 when deputies responded to a report of a deceased person in the water near the river bridge on County Road 311. Authorities later identified the victim as David Sanchez of Houston.
Hernandez has been charged with murder. His bond has been set at $500,000.
George-George has been charged with murder and abuse of a corpse. Officials said no bond has been granted on the murder charge, while bond for the abuse of a corpse charge has been set at $50,000.
Both suspects are being held in the Jackson County Jail.
The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office said the arrests followed an extensive investigation involving numerous interviews, evidence processing and leads. The agency thanked the Texas Rangers, U.S. Marshals Service and the Texas Department of Public Safety Criminal Investigations Division for assisting with the investigation.
The investigation remains ongoing.
