EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The Texas Department of Transportation El Paso District will hold a public meeting on the Border Highway East Corridor Study.
The meeting will review the “technically preferred concept” for the 20-mile-long extension of the Border Highway from Americas Avenue to FM 3380 (M.F. Aguilera Road) near Tornillo.

The study analyzes the benefits and challenges of improving transportation in the study area. There are multiple goals, TxDOT says. Among them are to alleviate traffic congestion, improve mobility, and enhance safety, the agency said.
The study has not identified any projects or funding for construction.
The in-person public meeting will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 4 at Clint High School, 13890 Alameda Ave.
Attendees can view hard copies of study materials such as exhibit boards and the technically preferred concept, talk to staff and submit comments. The public meeting will be held in an open house format with Spanish-speaking team members available; no formal presentation will be given.
The virtual public meeting will consist of an accessible pre-recorded video presentation, including audio and visual components. It will be posted online by 5:30 p.m. Mountain Daylight Time on Tuesday, Aug. 4.
