LA PRYOR, Texas – First responders were searching Saturday for a person who was swept away in the Nueces River upstream from the Highway 83 crossing, prompting officials to close public access under the bridge.
In a Facebook post at 6:19 p.m. Saturday, the La Pryor Volunteer Fire Department asked people to avoid the area “under the Nueces River on Highway 83” while crews searched “for a person that swept away from up river.”
The department also issued a public safety alert that access to the Nueces River under the Highway 83 bridge is closed “until further notice,” warning the public: “Do not move or go around the barricade.”
