A 20-year-old man is accused of attacking two people with a broken glass bottle during separate assaults in San Antonio, according to an arrest affidavit.
Alejandro Javier Ramirez Mercado is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in connection with the May 24 incidents, according to the affidavit.
San Antonio police were called to two separate assaults that occurred within minutes of each other, according to the affidavit. Investigators said both victims suffered cut wounds and were hospitalized.
The victims told police an unknown man chased them before attacking them with a broken glass bottle. The assaults appeared to be unprovoked, investigators said.
The suspect left both scenes before officers arrived, according to the affidavit.
Investigators later obtained video of one of the attacks and reviewed information from another call involving the same suspect. A positive identification was also made by the suspect’s probation officer, according to court records.
Investigators later obtained a recorded statement from Ramirez Mercado, who allegedly admitted to attacking both victims while intoxicated. He also confirmed he had a glass bottle in his hand during the assaults, according to investigators.
An arrest warrant was issued for Ramirez Mercado on the second-degree felony charge. The case remains pending.
