A far West Texas county has a major project in the pipeline-and visitors may want to grab their swimsuits.
A $54.5 million indoor waterpark is set to make a splash in Reeves County-roughly 75 miles west of Odessa, according to a recent filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. Crews could break ground this September, with construction lasting through December 2027.
Located at 70 CR 118 in Pecos, the facility would be just down the street from Cyclone Ballparks. The indoor waterpark would include aquatic attractions, leisure and recreation areas, support spaces, locker rooms, restrooms, concessions, offices, mechanical and equipment rooms and other associated building infrastructure.

A May 2026 Construction Bid Source posting for the project also mentions a surf machine, food and beverage outlets and an outdoor pool.
Spanning 67,675 square feet, the Reeves County Waterpark would be designed by Frisco-based Parkhill. Reeves County did not respond to Chron’s request for comment by the time of publication.
The bigger vision
The idea for a waterpark dates back at least a few years.
In 2022, Reeves County retained Hotel & Leisure Advisors to conduct a feasibility study for an outdoor waterpark in Pecos, according to Permian Proud. At the time, Hotel & Leisure Advisors recommended a six- to eight-acre park near the Cyclone Ballparks featuring a lazy river, wave pool, numerous slides, a retail gift shop, a food and beverage outlet, cabanas and more.
A high number of Pecos residents reportedly responded positively to initial surveys about the idea of a proposed waterpark, according to NewsWest9. Then in May 2024, county officials hosted a public forum where residents heard presentations from two companies about the proposed waterpark, valued around $47 million.

A March 2025 request for proposals from Hotel & Leisure Advisors also mentions plans for a nearby 120 room hotel and restaurant and a 10,000- to 20,000-square-foot convention center.
“The goal of the development is to attract visitors and families from outside the county to the Cyclone Ballparks, indoor waterpark, and the convention center,” the document reads. “The hotel and convention center will be operated by a single management company to maximize the usage, revenue, and profitability of both properties.”
Hotel & Leisure Advisors said the tentative name of the park would be Rodeo Rapids Waterpark, noting an expected $50 million investment.
