East Texas (KLTV/KTRE) – Good morning, East Texas! Be prepared for a sweltering end of July, but there may be a chance we’ll have a not-so-hot start to August! This Monday morning, we are starting off mild and muggy in the 70s with mostly clear skies. Expect lots of sunshine today as high pressure remains firmly in place overhead, keeping rain chances at zero and afternoon temperatures hot in the upper 90s and lower 100s. Heat indices (feels like temps) won’t have to work too hard to get in the 100-110° range this afternoon, so a Heat Advisory is in effect through 8PM. Temperatures could get even hotter over the next couple of days with some jumping into the lower 100s Tuesday through Friday as skies remain mostly dry and filled with sunshine. Interestingly enough, there is a chance we could see a weak cold front arrive on Saturday, the first day of August. Now, this won’t lead to a significant cooldown by any means, but it could knock us down into the middle 90s by Sunday and could also bring some low-end scattered rain chances back to East Texas for a day or two. Late July into middle August is typically our hottest time of the year, so any relief from the triple digits is always a welcome one!
