Traffic changes begin Monday on Carroll Lane as a $5.9 million road improvement project starts. Construction is expected to continue through summer 2027.
CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Drivers traveling along Carroll Lane in Corpus Christi should prepare for significant traffic changes beginning Monday as construction gets underway on a major roadway improvement project.
The City of Corpus Christi announced that the southbound lanes of Carroll Lane between South Padre Island Drive and Holly Road will close to traffic as construction begins. During the project, the roadway will operate as one-way northbound through the work zone. City officials say access to homes and businesses along the corridor will remain open throughout construction.

The project is part of the city’s Bond 2022 program and carries a price tag of approximately $5.9 million.
In addition to replacing pavement, crews will install new sidewalks, curbs and gutters, improve street lighting and complete utility upgrades designed to modernize the corridor and improve safety for drivers and pedestrians.
While the work is expected to cause temporary traffic delays, city officials say the long-term improvements will create a safer and more reliable roadway for the surrounding community.
Motorists are encouraged to allow extra travel time, reduce their speed in construction zones and remain alert for changing traffic patterns, lane shifts and construction crews working near the roadway.
Residents and business owners along Carroll Lane will continue to have access during construction, although drivers may experience temporary delays depending on the phase of the project.
Construction is expected to continue through the summer of 2027.
City officials encourage motorists to use caution when traveling through the area and to follow all posted detour signs and traffic control devices while improvements are underway.
