LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – A Heat Advisory is in effect for the entire forecast area Monday from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. as dangerously hot conditions continue to grip the region.

During a Heat Advisory, it’s important to stay hydrated and drink plenty of water throughout the day. Limit outdoor activities, especially during peak heat hours between 2 p.m. and 8 p.m.
A broad upper-level ridge will continue to dominate the region Monday, bringing south-southwesterly winds and mostly sunny skies. High temperatures Monday will reach near and above 105° area-wide, with the hottest readings expected in the area surrounding Childress. A few locations could see heat index values as high as 109° this afternoon.

Never leave children or pets in vehicles, as temperatures can become life-threatening within minutes. Wear light-colored, loose-fitting clothing and use sunscreen when you must be outside. Seek shade whenever possible.
There are no major changes expected to the extended forecast. Triple-digit heat will persist through at least Friday, with conditions remaining consistent throughout the week.
