A 71-year-old woman died after being struck by a vehicle on El Paso Street. Police say the driver fled the scene.
SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio police are searching for the driver involved in a deadly hit-and-run that claimed the life of a 71-year-old woman Sunday night on the city’s west side.
The crash happened around 8:09 p.m. in the 1500 block of El Paso Street.
According to police, Yolanda Cano, 71, was walking in the eastbound lanes of El Paso Street when she was struck by an unknown vehicle.
The driver fled the scene without stopping to render aid.
Cano was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said the driver will face a charge of collision involving death once identified and located.
The investigation remains active, and authorities have not released a description of the vehicle involved. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the San Antonio Police Department.
