Corpus Christi firefighters quickly contained the blaze before it spread to the main house.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A cooking fire damaged a detached covered cooking area behind a Corpus Christi home on Monday, according to the Corpus Christi Fire Department.

Firefighters responded to a residential fire alarm in the 200 block of Santa Barbara Street.

According to Assistant Fire Chief Tony Perez, the fire was contained to a detached covered cooking area at the rear of the property and did not spread to the main residence.

Firefighters quickly put out the fire and made sure it was completely extinguished before leaving the scene.

No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire has not been released.
