TYLER, Texas (KLTV) – With temperatures hitting over 100 degrees, many East Texans are looking for ways to cool off.
In Tyler, several city buildings are open during business hours for residents needing shelter.
“I try and get everything done as early in the morning as possible,” said Jerry Tillman,” who was cooling off inside the Tyler Library. “After this, I’ll probably take a nap because of the heat, but God is good.”
Shelters like the Salvation Army are open as cooling places. PATH (People Attempting to Help) is letting Tylerites use their lobby and get connected to their services.
“The wait time is longer than we would like for it to be,” said Andrea Wilson- Lobaugh, PATH’s executive director. “The crowded waiting room is less ideal than we would like for it to be. But we are certainly here to serve the public.”
