SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — Details are emerging after a dead body was found in a plastic bag on Sunday.
Deputies with the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office made the discovery during a call about a missing person. The body was found as one deputy searched a home in the 700 block of Fort Leonard, near Potranco Road, around 4:30 p.m.
Three people were initially detained after the body was found in the bag with pool of blood visible from the outside. Investigators say the bag had been placed in a closet.
KSAT-12 reports Margaret Brown and Christopher Henson, both 30, were arrested and charged with tampering with evidence, which is a third-degree felony. Both were given bond of $100,000.
The Bexar County Medical Examiner is working to figure out the cause of death, and this could lead to additional charges.
Deputies say Brown and the missing man’s roommate called in the report, but it is unclear what involvement the roommate may have had. Detectives say Brown told them the man went missing after a bout with ‘night terrors’ around 2 a.m. Sunday morning.
Sheriff Javier Salazar said Sunday night it seemed highly unlikely that the man harmed himself before wrapping himself up in plastic in the way he was found. Salazar said at the time the man’s death could end up being ruled a homicide.
Investigators believe the current charges stem from evidence showing an attempt to clean up blood at the scene was made. A search of the home also turned up a box cutter with blood on it.
