The Wisconsin-based chain hasn’t officially announced plans to open a new location in the area, but a permit submitted to the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation on July 24 indicates one will be built at 9265 Fry Rd. The filing doesn’t include many details about the new restaurant but says it will span 4,393-square-feet and feature a drive-thru. The project is estimated to cost $1.85 million, with construction slated to begin in late September and wrap up in mid-June 2027. That timeline, however, doesn’t guarantee the restaurant will open next summer.
This is one of several new locations that Culver’s has planned to bring to the area, including its newest Humble location coming to The Woodlands at 15635 Woodland Hills Dr. soon, according to the company’s website.
The first Culver’s restaurant opened in Sauk City, Wis. in 1984. Since then, the decades-old chain, a favorite of former Houston Texans star and Wisconsin native J.J. Watt, has expanded to more than half of the country with with more than 1,000 locations across 26 states—including Texas, which has 16. Its Wisconsin-inspired menu is made up of a wide variety of sandwiches, salads, seafood, fresh frozen custard and signature “Butterburgers” made with fresh beef.
