Fort Worth Police responded to a domestic disturbance call in the 9200 block of Renee Circle around 6 a.m. Sunday, where the officer-involved shooting occurred.
FORT WORTH, Texas — The Fort Worth Police Department confirmed an officer shot and killed a suspect Sunday morning, just hours after another occurred Saturday night.
Fort Worth Police officers responded to a domestic disturbance call at about 6 a.m. in the 9200 block of Renee Circle.
According to police, the suspect, 21-year-old Andrew Ponce, kicked his way into an apartment and was involved in an altercation with the individual inside the apartment. During the altercation, Ponce retrieved a knife.

When officers arrived on scene, Ponce was outside of the apartment holding a knife to his throat, said Fort Worth Police Chief Eddie Garcia during a press conference Sunday.
Arriving officers gave multiple commands for Ponce to drop the knife, according to officials. An officer fired his weapon when Ponce began advancing toward the officer with the knife, police say.
Ponce was transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. No other injuries to officers or citizens were reported.
The Fort Worth Police Department’s Major Case Unit is investigating what led up to the domestic disturbance and officer-involved shooting.
Chief Garcia confirmed a press conference will be held later this week regarding the shooting.
Just Saturday night, police chased a suspect to a motel on Palette Drive, ending in gunfire. FWPD Chief Eddie Garcia said the suspect reportedly pulled a handgun. That’s when the officers fired on him. The officers rendered aid, but the suspect died from his injuries, according to police.
