Megu French Japanese Cuisine quietly closed, and another tenant is already in the works.
Megu opened at 3113 S. University Drive in 2023 serving fresh sushi, with fish flown in daily from Japan. The atmosphere was sophisticated, with price points were between $50 and $100.
The restaurant was in a difficult spot with little traffic, tucked under the bronze office building across from the TCU Campus Store. However, a new tenant is already planned for the space.
Dallas-based Picazo Sushi & Poke will make use of the red carpeted dining space and sushi bar, according to permits filed with the City of Fort Worth.
Picazo opened in Dallas in 2022 and serves Japanese-Hawaiian style sushi and poke in a casual setting, with prices between $10 to $20.
When will Picazo open in Fort Worth?
There has been no confirmed timeline for the opening of Picazo Sushi & Poke in Fort Worth. The Picazo team has not responded to emails or calls from the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.
The space at 3113 S. University Drive is fit for a restaurant, but there have been no further details released on renovations needed to make the space work for the new tenant.
Pine Isle, another Dallas-based poke restaurant, is expected to open across the street at 3009 S. University Drive, the old Dutch Burritos Bar space. Culture Map Fort Worth reports the restaurant will open in early fall.
What’s on the Picazo menu?
The Picazo menu has mainly sushi roll options.
Appetizers include edamame and pan-fried dumplings.
They have the classic California, Philadelphia and Rainbow rolls and also spicy tuna on crispy rice, sashimi and nigiri.
Their poke bowls offer two choices of protein with a base of crab mix, cucumber, corn, carrot, edamame with other toppings and sauce of choice.
It is unknown if the Fort Worth location will have the same menu as the flagship Dallas store.
