Several severe weather alerts have been issued Tuesday in the Colorado Springs area and beyond by the National Weather Service.
Flash flood warnings are in effect until 7:15 p.m. for all of El Paso County and further south in the Aspen Acres fire zone in Pueblo and Custer counties. The towns of Beulah and Rye are included in the flood warning.
Around 3:30 p.m., radar indicated that near Yoder — around 30 miles east of Colorado Springs — 70 mph wind gusts and tennis ball-sized hail were hitting the area.
Parts of Teller County, including Cripple Creek, are under a flash flood warning through 7:45 p.m., according to a social media post around 4:40 p.m. by the Weather Service’s office in Pueblo.
2:20 P.M. UPDATE
The National Weather Service in Pueblo issued a flash flood warning Tuesday for the town of Beulah and the surrounding area, which has been in the middle of the Aspen Acres fire zone in recent weeks.
The warning, made around 1 p.m. on social media by the Weather Service, is in effect until 4 p.m. and covers parts of southwest Pueblo County and southeast Custer County. Parts of the burn area were under a flood warning Monday.
A severe thunderstorm watch is also in effect for much of eastern Colorado, including Colorado Springs, Pueblo and Denver, until 8 p.m.
The Aspen Acres fire, which started June 29, has burned 101,921 acres, is 66% contained and has 821 personnel assigned to putting it fully out, according to a social media update Tuesday from officials.
