CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Gulf Coast Humane Society is receiving some extra support thanks to a generous donation from several Coastal Bend companies.

The shelter announced it received more than 5,000 pounds of pet food donated by Valero, Bay Limited, Gulf Coast Valve and Ohmstede Industrial Services.

Officials say the donation will help provide meals for cats and dogs currently in the shelter’s care while easing some of the financial pressure that comes with operating a nonprofit animal organization.

The Gulf Coast Humane Society works to care for and find homes for animals throughout the Coastal Bend. With many shelters facing rising costs for food, medical care and daily operations, community support plays an important role in helping them continue their mission.

The organization says donations like this allow staff and volunteers to focus more resources on caring for the animals and supporting adoption efforts.
