Three women were shot outside a convenience store in Houston’s Sunnyside neighborhood Tuesday night.
The women were recovering at a local hospital, according to Lt. R. Willkens with the Houston Police Department.
He said the shooting took place around 9 p.m. in the 9100 block of Scott Street.
“Two of the victims, in their mid-30s, were on foot in the parking lot and each was shot in the arm,” he said. “A third female, in her 40s, was in a vehicle. She was hit in the hand, left the location and was down the road. They were all transported to the hospital and will all be OK.”
Our officers were nearby, heard the shooting and arrived quickly.
“They heard possibly 30 rounds of rapid fire, maybe a rifle,” he said. “The rounds came from a grassy area across from the convenience store and the suspect possibly fled on foot.”
The area was searched by police but no suspects were apprehended.
“Quite a few rounds were shot toward the store,” he said. A cooler inside the store was struck.
Houston police would continue to investigate the shooting, he said.
