Five Central Texas law enforcements officers received a Valor Award from TCOLE after helping with heavy rainfall last year.
AUSTIN, Texas — On July 29, the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) announced that the organization has presented five law enforcement officials with the State of Texas Law Enforcement Achievement Award for Valor.
Sergeant Robin Douglas of the City of Mart Police Department, Deputy Constable Robert Leathers of McLennan County Constable Precinct 1, Sergeant Joseph Ballew of the McLennan County Sheriff’s Office and Game Wardens Michael Serbanic and Michael Ferguson of Texas Parks and Wildlife all received the award for the efforts during last year’s heavy rainfall in Central Texas.
The five officials saw a man’s vehicle about 100 yards from his driveway and 15 feet from a creek bank wedged between some trees. The quick actions and teamwork of the men resulted in the rescue of the man trapped in his car just seconds before his car was fully submerged by rising waters.
