LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – The relentless heat that scorched the region over the past few days shows no signs of letting up. Hot temperatures near or just above 100° are expected through Wednesday.

Another Heat Advisory remains in effect from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. today for areas off to the east, where high temperatures near 106° are expected.

An upper-level ridge of high pressure continues to dominate the region, keeping conditions hot and dry. Wednesday’s temperatures will be similar to yesterday with highs across the southern South Plains are still expected to reach the upper 90s and low triple digits.
The ridge will also keep the chance of rain near zero through Wednesday, offering no relief from the intense heat.
Looking ahead
Triple-digit temperatures will continue through Friday before a slight cool down arrives over the weekend.

A few thunderstorms are possible both Friday and Saturday, especially across the southern Texas Panhandle and the Caprock, though rain chances remain limited.
