In a social media post around 2:45 p.m. Wednesday, the Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services confirmed a motorcyclist died after a crash on the highway flyover linking southbound I-35 with Ben White Boulevard. Officials said the motorcyclist crashed on the flyover before ultimately landing on the westbound Ben White Boulevard service road in South Austin.
Officials said they have pronounced one adult patient dead on the scene and have not evaluated any others. Law enforcement will investigate the crash further and determine if there were additional vehicles involved.
Officials cautioned area commuters to expect delays as well as a “heavy first responder presence.”
Over on SigAlert, traffic data indicated the crash was affecting I-35 North at the State Highway 71 and Ben White Boulevard exit (Exit 230). Officials added the off-ramp was blocked at this time as a result of the incident. No information regarding delay lengths was available at the time of publication.
