A San Antonio teen was detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement on her way to church this week, according to a social media post by U.S. Rep. Joaquin Castro.

Castro posted that 16-year-old Emely Charloth Suaza Chambo was taken by ICE, and that agents told her father, Fernando Suaza Ortiz, to come pick her up or she would be sent out of state. When Fernando showed up for his daughter they took him too.

The congressman said Emely was a student at Churchill High School in San Antonio and Fernando was working at the Hilton Garden Inn. Castro said that neither Emely or Fernando has committed a crime and their asylum case is pending as they wait at the Dilley Trailer Prison.

KENS 5 reached out to ICE for comment and is awaiting a response.
