MILWAUKEE (Gray News) – Body camera video from the arrest of former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo has been released, according to WFAA.
Romo, 46, was stopped by a Milwaukee County sheriff’s deputy Thursday on I-43 for “unsafe passing on the right” where he allegedly cut across a marked area.

During the traffic stop, Romo told the deputy he was on his way to “meet grandma and grandpa” and had consumed “zero” drinks.
When the deputy asked Romo if he would take field sobriety tests, Romo said he wanted to call his lawyer.
Romo, who started recording the encounter on his phone, eventually got out of his vehicle after being told he could not call his lawyer because he was under investigation for operating a vehicle while intoxicated.
“Because I’m coming from a golf course you think I’m drunk?” Romo asked the deputy before getting out of the vehicle.
Romo was handcuffed and taken to a nearby police station.
Later at the station, Romo got out of the car and the deputy said she thought he was impaired because of his “red, glassy eyes” and “the odor of an intoxicating alcoholic beverage from your breath.” Deputies also allegedly found small containers of alcohol in his bag.
Romo asked the deputy if any of the containers had been “drank,” but the deputy did not respond.
The deputy eventually led Romo through various field sobriety tests. Romo did not consent to doing a breath test.
After the tests, Romo asked if he had passed. The deputy told him he was under arrest and placed him back in handcuffs.
Romo was charged with operating while intoxicated, his first offense. He was later released.
Romo’s court date is set for Sept. 21.
According to NBC5, a first-offense operating while intoxicated is considered a civil infraction that comes with a small fine.
Romo started his NFL career in 2004. He played for 13 seasons, all for the Dallas Cowboys. He made four Pro Bowl appearances and remains the franchise’s career leader in touchdown passes with 248, according to ESPN.
He has been the lead game analyst for CBS’s NFL coverage since 2017.
