The Texas Rattlers, the Fort Worth-based franchise in the Professional Bull Riders Team Series, are off to a 2-0 start this season as they seek to become the league’s first two-time champions.
The Rattlers, who won the 2023 title, are the only undefeated team on the young season. They will be in Stillwater, Oklahoma, for three more games this weekend, facing the defending champion Carolina Cowboys on Friday, the Oklahoma Wildcatters on Saturday and the Missouri Thunder on Sunday.
The Rattlers, who finished third last season, will hold their home event, Rattler Days, on Oct. 2-4 at Dickies Arena.
Each team’s roster is made up of seven riders who are considered the “protected roster” and three riders on the “reserve roster.” Five riders are selected from the protected roster to compete in each event.
The Rattlers’ protected roster is made up of Dawson Branton, Brady Fielder, Josh Frost, Daniel Keeping, Claudio Montanha Jr., Jean Carlos Teodoro and João Ricardo Vieira.

The reserve roster is kept for depth and for reinforcement if injuries were to occur. The reserve riders are Andrew Alvidrez, Jadon Hayes and Braidy Randolph.
The Rattlers are led by coach Cody Lambert, the co-founder of PBR and a memer of several rodeo halls of fame. He said his coaching style comes from what he reads in the Bible.
“Everything we do, I find out later that everything that I think I invented, or everything I came up with, I wind up reading it in the Bible,” he said. “And it’s been around for thousands of years, and I thought I heard it from someone else, I thought I heard it from another book, and it all comes from there. So we just talk about doing the right thing and working hard and with love in our heart and love in our job, and being grateful for the opportunity that’s it in front of us and making the most of it.”
Brady Oleson rode for the Rattlers for their first three seasons (2022-24), but suffered a career ending injury in 2024 and was brought on as an assistant coach last season. He said he serves as a middle man who helps connect Lambert with the Rattlers.
“So I just feel like I can help bridge the gap between what Cody wants and kind of these younger guys and talk to them in their language,” he said.
Fielder is coming off a season in which he finished second in the MVP race and had a riding percentage of 75%.
“It’s a lot of extra motivation for me just being so close,” he said.
Fielder expressed his confidence in the team and that it can continue its success.
“I expect to get a score each and every time I ride really, and the way we’ve been preparing for the season thus far, I feel really great about our team and feeling good going into the season,” the Australian said. “I feel really prepared as a team and looking forward to it. We are more than capable of riding each and every bull we get on, and each new bull our coaches select for us.”
New Texas Rattlers facility in Decatur
Rattlers president and general manager Chad Blankenship recently announced a new 3,000-square-foot training facility for the team in Decatur.
The Rattlers, sponsored primarily by Ariat, will become the first PBR team with their own dedicated training facility, and more teams are expected to follow.
