Police said the man was crossing outside of a marked crosswalk when he was hit by one vehicle and then a second. Both drivers remained at the scene.
CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A 60-year-old man died Friday morning after he was struck by two vehicles while trying to cross Kostoryz Road outside of a crosswalk, according to the Corpus Christi Police Department.
Officers responded around 6:32 a.m. to the 4300 block of Kostoryz Road for a reported vehicle-versus-pedestrian crash. When officers and paramedics arrived, they found the man had died from his injuries.
Traffic investigators determined the man was crossing eastbound across Kostoryz Road, but not in a marked crosswalk, when he was struck by a vehicle. The impact threw him into the northbound lanes, where he was struck by a second vehicle.
Police said both drivers remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.
Investigators determined the pedestrian was at fault for the crash because he was crossing outside of a crosswalk. Police also said alcohol was not a factor.
The investigation remains ongoing.
