EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — A 75-year-old woman was killed, a man was rushed to the hospital and a 29-year-old was arrested after a crash involving several vehicles happened Thursday night on I-10 near Vinton.
According to the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office, Silvia Resendez was killed when the car she was traveling in hit the back of another vehicle, causing a serious crash Thursday at around 10:57 p.m. on I-10 East near mile marker 2. Meanwhile, the driver of the car Resendez was traveling in– a Honda Civic– was sent to the hospital. The extent of the driver’s injuries remains unknown, but authorities said he remains in stable condition.
Investigators believe the crash involved a Honda Civic and a white GMC pickup truck, towing a silver Dodge pickup truck on a flatbed.
The driver of the GMC truck, Victor Alonso Saucedo-Torres, was arrested under suspicion that he was driving drunk with a child in the vehicle; however, investigators believe he did not cause the crash. Investigators said they believe the Honda Civic hit the flatbed the GMC truck was hauling, triggering the incident.

According to jail records, Saucedo-Torres was booked into the El Paso County Downtown Jail Friday and charged with DWI with a child under 15 years of age, with bond set at $7,500.
The driver of the car Resendez was riding in– which was identified as a Honda Civic– was sent to the hospital, where he remains in stable condition, authorities said.

All eastbound lanes of I-10 near Vinton were closed following the crash.
The highway has since reopened.
