Aug. 1: 17th Annual Bloomin’ Ball
The 17th Annual Bloomin’ Ball begins with a cocktail reception and silent auction opening at 6:30 p.m. followed at 8 p.m. by a three-course sit-down dinner, all at Tower Club Dallas, 1601 Elm St., 48th floor, with complimentary valet parking at 1660 Pacific Ave. This year’s Bloomin’ Ball holds special significance as it serves as the kickoff celebration for AIN’s 40th Anniversary.

Aug. 1: Back-to-School Event for Oak Cliff Families

Aug. 6-9: ‘Phenomenomaly’ at Meow Wolf
Meow Wolf Grapevine, 3000 Grapevine Mills Parkway, presents Phenomenomaly, a live immersive performance center inside The Real Unreal, blending interactive theater with a rotating lineup of North Texas artists unfolding around guests as they move through the venue. Performances are from 2-7 p.m. and are included with general admission. Performance for Aug. 6-9 is the comedy improv Totally Made-up Musical.

Aug. 7: ‘A Taste of Hope’
A Taste of Hope, the Cathedral of Hope’s program to feed the hungry and homeless, is having a fundraiser from 5-8 p.m. at the Hidden Door. Food will be available for a donation towards the fundraiser, and great entertainment will be the order of the evening.

Aug. 7-8: ‘Hedwig,’ ‘Short Bus’ screenings with John Cameron Mitchell
The Texas Theatre hosts screenings of filmmaker John Cameron Mitchell’s movies Hedwig and the Angry Inch (Friday, Aug. 7) and Shortbus (Saturday, Aug 8). The Hedwig screening on Friday celebrates the 25th anniversary of the groundbreaking film, with a screening in 4K followed by a love Q&A with the legendary director himself. Doors open at 6 p.m., and the show starts at 7 p.m. Mitchell will also attend and provide commentary for the the Saturday screening of his film Shortbus, which celebrates its 20th anniversary this year. Doors open at 1 p.m., and the movie starts at 2 p.m., followed by a Q&A with Mitchell. Tickets are available at TheTexasTheatre.com, with special add-on opportunities for a pre-show meet-and-greet with Mitchell at the Shortbus screening.

Aug. 8: Prism Health North Texas Healthy Start to School Bash
Prism Health North Texas hosts the Healthy Start to School Bash from 9 a.m.-noon at the agency’s Oak Cliff clinic, 219 Sunset Ave., Ste. 119. The event includes free services as well as entertainment, games, music, giveaways and more as well as free haircuts, school sports physicals, vaccine appointment scheduling and more. Aug. 9: TAG+ Monthly Brunch

Cedar Springs Merchants Assocition hosts the Clover Class putt-putt golf tournament benefiting Prism Health North Texas. Teams of four compete for a top cash prize of $1,000. Teams can register at PHNTx.org/CloverClassic for $100 through July.

Aug 15: DHC Backyard Birthday BBQ Bash
Dallas Hope Charities hosts a casual, high-energy Backyard Birthday BBQ Bash from 6-8 p.m., with a BBQ plate dinner and iced tea from Sonny Bryan’s Smokehouse, birthday cake from Daisy Cakes, after-hours access to Union Coffee bar for coffee and tea purchases, classic backyard games and live community entertainment.
