A memorial service will be held for U.S. Army Private Isabella Gonzales in Plano on Saturday.

Gonzales, a Carrollton resident, was killed during Iranian strikes at Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan, where she was supporting Operation Inherent Resolve, the U.S. mission against the Islamic State group.

She was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 57th Air Defense Artillery Regiment, 52nd Air Defense Artillery Brigade, 10th Army Air Missile Defense Command in Ansbach, Germany.

Her memorial service will take place at 6 p.m. at Prestonwood Baptist Church, 6801 W. Park Blvd., Plano, Texas 75093. The service is open to the public, and doors will open at 5 p.m.

On Friday, Hebron High School held a ribbon event to honor Gonzales, a former student. More than 400 volunteers from Hebron High School booster clubs, the PTSA, student organizations, staff, community members, and military personnel came together to create 5,600 memorial ribbons in her honor.

The school will also hold an Honor Ride for Gonzales on Saturday morning at 9 a.m.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott mourned Gonzales in a statement following her death in Jordan earlier this month.

“Texas mourns the loss of Army Pvt. Isabella Gonzales of Carrollton, killed in action serving our nation in Jordan. She was just 19 years old. Her courage and sacrifice represent the very best of Texas,” Abbott said.

“Cecilia and I pray for her family, and for the family of 1st Lt. Tyler Feehan of Hawaii. Our nation is forever indebted to them both. God bless our fallen heroes, and God bless Texas,” he added.

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton also released a statement honoring Gonzales.

“Today, we lift up and honor the family of Private Isabella Gonzales. We pray that your hearts find comfort during this difficult time. This is such a tragic loss. Thank you for your service, Pvt. Gonzales, from a grateful Nation,” Paxton said.

President Donald Trump attended the dignified transfer of the fallen service members on July 22 at Dover Air Force Base.
