Northwest San Antonio has gained another assembly of mobile kitchens.
The Biscuit Yard, located at at 9630 Huebner Road in the Medical Center, has opened for dinner and late-night noshing, according to John Vale, owner of Alamo Biscuit Co. & Panaderia, which developed the park next to his breakfast-and-lunch restaurant so he can use the space for nighttime service.
“Our Huebner location closes at 3 p.m. on weekdays and 4 p.m. on weekends, so I wanted to find a fun way to keep the space active in the evenings,” Vale said in an emailed statement. “The Biscuit Yard brings great local food, good music and a relaxed vibe to the neighborhood.”
The Biscuit Yard, which operates 5 p.m.-midnight Tuesday through Sunday, currently features four permanent food trucks:
• Smashin Crab, which specializes in Cajun seafood
• Krazy Katsu, a purveyor of Japanese-style chicken sandos
• Tacos al Carbon, which serves Mexican street tacos
• Double A BBQ, which smokes and slices Texas-style barbecue
Food truck guests can order drinks from Alamo Biscuit Co.’s full bar and partake in food from any of the trucks on the eatery’s patio. As part of the grand opening, the bar is offering $2 Bud Light bottles for a limited time, according to Vale.
“We wanted to create a space that celebrates San Antonio’s diverse food culture while giving our community another reason to come together,” he said.
Vale launched Alamo Biscuit Co. in 2019 with a single location. It’s since added a restaurant on the River Walk and a cafe inside Methodist Hospital Metropolitan, located north of downtown.
