LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) – Texas’s annual Tax-Free Holiday begins Friday, Aug. 7, and runs through midnight Sunday, Aug. 9.
During the holiday, most clothing, footwear, school supplies, and backpacks priced under $100 are exempt from sales tax. The exemption applies to purchases made in-store or online from a Texas retailer.
The Texas Comptroller’s office said shoppers do not need an exemption certificate to take advantage of the savings.
What does not qualify
The exemption applies only to items purchased during the holiday window. Items bought before or after the three-day period do not qualify, and no tax refunds are available.
