An environmental crimes investigator with the Caldwell County Constable’s Office has died after a drowning accident in Uvalde County, according to the agency.

The Caldwell County Constable’s Office, Precinct 2, said in a Facebook post that Environmental Crimes Investigator Ryan McKnight “tragically lost his life today in a drowning accident in Uvalde County.”

“Ryan was a highly valued member of our office, an exceptionally hard worker, and a true team player,” the constable’s office said. “He earned the respect of everyone who had the privilege of serving alongside him, and his loss is deeply felt throughout our Constable’s Office family and the community we serve.”

The office said its “hearts are with the McKnight family, our Constable’s Office family, our law enforcement family, and everyone who knew and loved Ryan,” and asked people to keep them “in your thoughts and prayers during this incredibly difficult time.”

No additional details about the drowning were released.
