The church, located at 6801 W. Park Blvd in Plano, is expected to host Gonzales’ friends, family and members of the public to remember the soldier’s life and sacrifice. The American Legion Post 597, a non-profit veterans service organization in Carrollton, is asking attendees to dress in black and purple — Gonzales’ favorite colors — or red, white and blue.
Gonzales served as a 14P air and missile defense crew member after enlisting in the Army in April 2025. She will be promoted to private first class posthumously. Her remains were returned to the U.S. on July 22 during a dignified transfer ceremony at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware.
Gonzales was one of two American soldiers killed in a July 17 attack at Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan. Tyler James Feehan, a Hawaii native, also died in the attack. To date, 18 U.S. service members have died in the ongoing conflict with Iran, according to the Pentagon.
The North Texas community has already rallied to remember Gonzales, who graduated from Hebron High School in 2025. A Carrollton veteran set up a handmade banner honoring Gonzales, decorating his fence with dozens of mini American flags in her memory.
The Dallas-based Maverick Harley Owners Group is also coordinating an honor ride for Gonzales on north Interstate 35E, scheduled to take place Saturday afternoon before the community memorial service.
This is a developing story and will be updated later with a stream of the memorial service.
