LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Even though we’re now counting down to the start of school, it will continue to be hot on the South Plains.
However, it shouldn’t be as hot as last week with the afternoon maximum temperatures remaining close or even below 100 degrees for most of the region. A little bad news though, viewers along and to the east of the Caprock will still have the potential for highs at 100-plus each the next few days. There is another Heat Advisory for the northeast communities on Monday.

On this Sunday afternoon the maximum temperatures ranged from 95-100+ across the region.
Sunday’s highs ranged from 93 degrees in Muleshoe to a hot 101 degrees in Jayton.
The afternoon maximum for Lubbock was 95 degrees.
It will be mostly sunny, until late in the week with Lubbock’s afternoon temperatures should remain just below 100 degrees.

The late week forecast also indicates a slight potential for some storms in the along and east of Interstate 27.
